Course Overview

This is the second entry-level certification course for divers wishing to utilize the KISS or Evolution/Inspiration closed circuit rebreather for air diving. The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for diving a Closed Circuit Rebreathers and to develop basic skills to a maximum depth of 45msw using air as a diluent for formal decompression diving.


Minumum age of 18.
Proof of 50 logged dives.
Advanced Nitrox and Decompression procedures certified.
Minumum age of 18.
Closed Circuit Rebreather Air Diluent certified.
30 hours on the unit and 6 months experience on the unit.
Advanced Nitrox and Decompression procedures certified.

Details of the course

The Closed Circuit Rebreather MOD2 diver course covers:

  • History and evolution of rebreathers
  • Comparison of Open Circuit, Semi-Closed Circuit and Closed Circuit
  • Practical mechanics of the system
  • Physiology
  • Proper scrubber packing
  • Electronic or manual systems design and maintenance
  • Dive tables & dive computers
  • Dive planning
  • Problem solving - Emergency procedures

Course duration and number of dives

The Closed Circuit Rebreather MOD2 diver course is a 4 day course and 7 dives are required.

Equipment requirement

The Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver course has no specific equipment requirement more than your standard recreational dive gear. We supply the unit, tanks and mixes, and the oxygen analyser.
