TDI Cavern Diver Course

Course Overview

This course is designed to develop the minimum skills and knowledge for cavern and overhead environments diving within the limits of light penetration; in addition outlines specific hazards associated with cave diving. The cavern course is not intended to provide instruction for cave diving environments. The objective of this course is to train divers in the proper planning, procedures, techniques and hazards of cavern diving.

Pre-requistes

Minumum age of 15.
Open water certified.
25 logged dives.

The Cavern diver course covers:

Policy for cavern diving
Gas matching procedures and management to include dissimilar volume
Psychological considerations
Equipment consideration
Communication
Swimming techniques
Physiology
Cavern environment
Cavern conservation
Problem solving
Accident analysis
Review of dive tables and decompression theory
Cavern diving etiquette

Course duration and number of dives

The Cavern diver course is a 3 day course and 4 dives are required.

Equipment requirement

The Cavern Diver course has some specific equipment requirement more than your standard recreational dive gear. The cavern diver program requires 2 lights, spool, cutting devices and line arrow.
