| ESPRESSO TRAPANI EXPEDITION 23 SEPTEMBER 2006 |
||
| TODAY? | ||
Today is an emotional day; we will be laying the stone holding the names of all the deceased passengers during that fateful day. The weather is fantastic, though a little current makes the descent with our package a little more challenging. The stone was laid at 11h45 and we rested an extra minute to pay our respects. We then moved on to the stern and the two massive 4 blades propellers, down the rudder, and into the ferry deck. The back door is unhinged now and the chaos inside is amazing. All the trucks and cars and jungled into there new resting position creating a dramatic feeling to this area. Then moving out of the bellys ship back to the sea bed, we made our way back to the line swimming trough the debris and getting a nice view of the capsized wreck. We then started swimming to the bow exploring the hull, in the company of huge lobsters, and inquisitive marine life, but time was up and decided to return to the safety of the line for decompression. 25min later leaving surface we are back on the line heading back to surface and a bit of warmth. 145min of decompression are waiting ahead of us ... |
