PAST EVENTS-XPEDITION BENGASI 10.02 Home

The Xpedition team just spent a week in September diving on the wreck of the Bengasi. Again a lot of gear was needed to enable 12 divers to run profiles of 25-30min at 95msw. The common configuration was a double 15L, tripled with a 7L for transfer gas, 2 stage tanks of 10L and all the standard equipment needed for this type of diving (reels, SMB's, lights, etc.) This expedition was also an opportunity to test the VPM profiles.

The organization for this type of diving with this number of divers is not simple. All together we needed 360'000 liters of helium and about the same amount of oxygen !!! In order get the blending done, it takes organization and most of the divers where well acquainted with expedition team work, being part of the team for years, so all the fussy parts of the work run quiet smooth.

The diving in itself was absolutely fantastic; the dive site is only about 15min away on a fast RIB. The light at 95msw was amazing and the wreck is in pretty good shape with many parts that you can penetrate. This wreck will definitely be part of a Deep Wreck trip next year.
