| DIVE SITE | ||
| Site : the Donator lies about 1200m off petit Sarranier
just beside the wreck Sagona known as "Le Grec". Co-ordinates : 42deg 59,61 north / 06 deg 16,54 east Depth : she lies at 48m. |
||
| THE DIVE | ||
The Donator (Prosper Schiaffino)
lies straight on her hull to the exeption of 1/3 of the stern strongly
tilted to starboard. This last section was badly damaged during the explosion
and the fore mast has collapsed. The aft mast collapsed very recently
(winter 2000) during a storm. All the features of the vessel are still
clearly identifiable and the holdes are still loaded with the barrels.
The afterdeck still holds a large wheel helm and just for a large spare
propeller is still stowed. The top deck has disolved over the years and
the lower decks are know accessible covered with numerous vestiges. |
||
| DIFFICULTY | ||
The main difficulty is the very strong
current often to strong to dive. She is also very exposed to the winds.
The depth deserve some respect and the gas of choice would be a Nitrox
28 or a Helitrox. |
