| WRECKS - SS PETALING | ||
| GENERAL DESCRIPTION | ||
The Petaling wreck was a cargo who measured
an overall length of 40m and 5m at the beam. The propulsion was through
a four pane propeller still in place. |
||
| HISTORY | ||
The story is that it was
sunk by a British submarine cruising the coasts of Phuket. The crew survived
the wreck and drifted to Kata Noi beach. |
||
| DIVE SITE | ||
| Site : the Petaling lies off kata beach Co-ordinates : Depth : the wreck lies in 58m |
||
| THE DIVE | ||
The status of the ship
is now pretty broken down. The Rudder and four pan propeller are still
there as if time could not harm it. This wreck for some reasons has a
number of portholes lying around it that do not match the actual size
of the boat. Maybe some of his cargo? |
||
| DIFFICULTY | ||
The main difficulties on this dive is
the depth and the visibility that can drop drastically during the dive. |
