The Dive: Diving the Tin Mining wreck is all about the marine life that has now colonised the vessel. The quantity and diversity is just stuning.

War Birds

Information: The War Birds are an artificial reef born from the sinking of 4 Dakota Airplanes and 6 Sikorsky helicopters. The first of it's kind in Thailand.

History:
The planes and choppers are a donation of the Thai defense department and the project was put together by the TDA. The actual sinking of the birds was a big event that take part in November 2008. The wrecks before being submerged received the Buddhist traditional blessing.

The Dive:
The wrecks lie straight up ready to fly back into action. Disposed as a square pattern, the dive is done by navigating from one wreck to the next. These wrecks though sunk very recently have already been colonized by the local marine life and offer an amazing spectacle to the visiting divers.

Marla's Mystery

Information: The Marla Mystery was a tug boat with an overall length of 35m.

The Dive:
Marla’s Mystery is a bare hull that is interesting for marine life and is used for teaching wreck and line laying skills.

King Cruiser

Type: Ferry | Depth: 15m-33m | Visibility: 15m+
Information:
The King Cruiser was a ferry linking Phuket to Phi-Phi Islands. She measured 85m in length, 25m at the beam and a draught of 8m. She displaced 3000 tones. She was powered by an engine that developed 10'000hp propelling her to 22 knots. She could carry 888 passengers on her four decks.

History: Built in 1966 in Japan she was launched in 1997 and served as a ferry linking Phuket to Phi-Phi Islands. On the 4th of Mai 1997, she hit Anemone Reef, opening her hull on port side and sunk within an hour. There were no casualties of the 600 passengers.
Dive site: East of Phuket
The Dive:
The King Cruiser lies straight on her hull. Beautifully concretioned, she is home to luxurious marine life. The years have taken there toll on her super structures and penetration is becoming hazardous.

MV Sea Chart 1

Type: Cargo | Depth: 24m-38m | Visibility: 10m+
Information:
The MV Sea Chart 1 was a Thai built cargo ship operating between burma, Vietnam and Thailand. She measured 84m in length and 12m at the beam.

History: MV Sea Chart 1 sank on the 23rd of August 2009 6 nautical miles from Tap Lamu Naval base after encountering heavy weather. She was transporting  over 1000 teak logs in its 3000 ton hold between Myanmar and Vietnam. All crew survived on inflatable rafts and were safely rescued by the Thai Navy.

The Dive:
The MV Sea Chart 1 is now lying in 38m of water in a perfect state on starboard. Her cargo is still sea fastened to the ship, though recovery is planned. Though she is a very recent wreck, marine life is rapidly taking over, making of this dive a spectacular voyage.

Bier Cargo

Type: Cargo | Depth: 47m | Visibility: 10m+
Information:
This wreck is probably the Cargo that sunk in that area carrying Beer bottles that where washed on to the beaches of kamala and Bang Tao.

SS Petaling

Type: Cargo | Depth: 54m-60m | Visibility: 8m+
Information:
The SS Petaling was a cargo ship who measured an overall length of 40m and 5m at the beam. The propulsion was through a four pane propeller still in place.
 
History: An elder Thai local reported that it was sunk by a British submarine cruising the coasts of Phuket. The crew that survived the attack ended up drifting down to Kata Noi Beach, deported by strong currents.
Dive site: West of Kata - Phuket
The Dive: The vessel lies with a slit list to port. The superstructures are long gone and replaced by colonies of fish. Morey Eels now live in the numerous cavity’s, and it’s not rare to spot rays lying on the surrounding seabed.

HMS Squirrel

Type: Mine Sweeper | Depth: 65m-72m | Visibility: 8m+
Information:
The HMS Squirrel was British mine sweeper  of Algerine Class that displaced 990 tons for a length of 65m, 10.6m at the beam and a drag of 3.2m.

History: HMS Squirrel sank on July 24th 1945 after a fatal collision with a Japanese mine that left the ship so badly damaged that the crew had to abandon it and leave it to be scuttled by cannons located on Promthep Cap.
Dive site: South of Promthep Cap - Phuket
The Dive: The ship now lies on starboard heavily damaged. 20 and 100mm shells strewn about the wreck, portholes lying around, the twin propellers draped with fishing nets and many other interesting details leave a deep impression on the diver even in adverse diving conditions.

CP1238

Type: Barge | Depth: 68m-75m | Visibility: 10m+
Information:
The CP1238 was a catamaran towed barge. Her overall length is about 50m, 8m wide and 6m high.

History: We do not much about the CP1238 else that she sunk in 1999 transporting cars that now lie on the seabed, surrounding the wreck but too far to be seen on the same dive. Lying about 200m south of the barge lies a large crane that could be a dive in itself.
Dive site: East of Racha Noi - Phuket
The Dive: The CP1238 lies straight on her hull. Big Carangids, Tunas, Barracudas, Morey eels, Lion fish, Scorpion fish have now invaded the barge. If you are lucky, the encounter of a Manta Ray is not impossible in the region.

HMS Vestal

Type: Mine Sweeper | Depth: 70m-78m | Visibility: 10m+
Information:
The HMS Vestal was british mine sweeper 0f Algerine Class that displaced 990 tons for a length of 65m, 10.6m at the beam and a drag of 3.2m.

History: HMS Vestal sank on July 26th 1945 after being hit by a Japanese Kamikaze that left the ship so badly damaged that the crew had to abandon it and finally scuttled by other naval vessels. She was the last naval casualty of WW2 which gives her a particular importance.
Dive site: West of Racha Yai - Phuket
The Dive: Though this wreck is extensively damaged, it remains an interesting site with many artifacts lying on the sea bed, scattered all around her. Large marine pelagic’s like to visit this area and encounters are not rare. The Visibility is also better than her sister HMS Squirrel lying not far away.

Sunshine 1

Information:
The Sunshine 1 was a large cargo ship measuring 109.5m in length and 14.6m at the beam.

History: The history of this vessel is largely unknown. The identity has been confirmed by artifacts but the origin and facts stay unknown of today.
Dive site: West of Karon - Phuket
The Dive: The Sunshine 1 is lying on starboard on a sandy sea bed. This is one of the best Tec dive in this area. The visibility is great, often at 30m+ and we are looking at a very large vessel. The marine life around is just amazing with huge barracudas, schools of Jacks and other large pelagic fish how have elected residence around this wreck.
